Let me start this out by saying I have realized that the New Adult genre is one of my least favorite genres. I was not going to let this deter me in my reading, especially since I had grown so fond of this author's work (side note: If you haven't, get The New Agenda series now while you are at it!). Sacred Light blew me out of the water! I would have to say it is easily one of my favorites--if not my favorite--of this genre. The New Adult genre is notorious for having a masculine buff man, a virginal woman (while this book has it, it mocks it in a sense), tons of unnecessary swears, and usually abuse of some kind. I realize this is urban fantasy as well--a genre I love--so it balanced the tropes of each genre really nicely and faced them head on with a unique spin in lieu of giving into every single stereotype that comes along with it.Sacred Light follows our young protagonist Fiona Farrow. She is recently turned twenty-one and upon this age she is expected to follow her destiny to become a Protector of Light. Fiona is a bit stubborn--like her mother and grandmother before her--and would rather pursue a normal career instead of facing her destiny...in spite of a super sexy guide Ezra coming to her to constantly remind her that she needs to stop playing in the human world and to take her destiny serious.
Through her journey in this book, Fiona finds out things about her best friend that she is completely shocked by, she uncovers a huge story at her investigative journalist job, and also encounters a super sexy contractor, Asher, who she is determined to lose her virginity to! That and the two of them both have a mutual attraction to each other, but there is something greater that is keeping them apart. No spoilers!
As far as the plot, Sacred Light moves along at a great pace and kept my interest from beginning to end. I am already about 30% through book two and can't wait to see what happens to Fiona and friends on their journey. Fiona is a very smart young woman and I am so glad that she didn't fall into the cliche of ignorance is bliss that many female protagonists (and secondary characters) fall into. She stands her own, but isn't afraid to call on friends when she needs the help.
Don't miss out on the Armor of Magic series. I look forward to even more from Simone Pond! Overall, I give the book at 4/5 star rating. I'm really finicky about how a book starts out and if it doesn't just grab me from the first chapter, then it's hard for me give a full 5 star rating. Regardless, great book and highly recommended!

This book is a fast, fun, young adult fantasy adventure. I really enjoy supernatural adventures, usually in movie/tv form, so this book really hit the spot. Fiona is this eager, modern 21 year old who just wants to live a normal life and reluctantly accepts her calling as a Protector of Light.
A snarky, sassy girl who wears an Armor of Magic and fights demons, shifters, and vampires -- yes, please. This was such a fun urban fantasy read and introduced unique magic that I've never seen before. I noticed some of the negative reviews bagged on Fiona's character - but they didn't even read the entire book to watch her grow and develop. It's called a character arc ... And what twenty-one year old girl doesn't think about hooking up with a guy? I suspect some of the harsh reviews are fakes. Trust the positive ones and give this book a shot. I loved Fiona and look forward to reading Rising Light and Edge of Light.

This is a very interesting and intriguing fantasy and girl that comes of age to take up the job of being a guard of the Light, of a Scroll of Light, and of people.
The narrator is good too, she has a light voice but can make it gruff and powerful. Good job.

Once again, Simone Pond hits another home run! I read "Sacred Light" in one sitting. Simone develops the most awesome characters and plots, I simply don't start reading till I have the time to read the whole book, and this one did not disappoint! From liking Fiona from page 1 and actually feeling her feelings of fear, triumph, disappointment and joys, to other characters. Starting with Grandmother's house and weaving through this book, I found something special on every page!! Thanks, Simone Pond!!!!!!
From start to finish I could not put this book down! Fiona Farrow, the leading female character, immediately captures readers in her supernatural adventures and doesn't let them go until the last page of the book; and after reading the final page, all you want is more! Romance, action, adventure, friendship, and a supernatural twist, this book has something for everyone! Overall 5/5 stars; I'm beyond excited for the sequel!
Like everyone with a passionate love for reading, I am constantly on the hunt for something new and exciting to indulge in! Simone Pond delivers yet another book that makes me so relieved that it is just the beginning of a series because I don't want it to end! The heroine is a sassy, strong and tough female character who you cheer for and empathize with throughout her journey. The adventure takes you on a wild ride and truly allows me to forget the craziness of our real world for a while! The writing is entertaining and keep me wanting for more (just purchased the second in the series)! I hope Simone Pond keeps them coming!!
